Bolivian Musicians’ Residency and Concert

Música de Maestros or “Music of the Masters” is a Bolivian ensemble founded in the 1980s by Rolando Encinas. This ensemble researches and performs master composers from Bolivia rather than masters from other countries that are known more widely such as Germany’s Beethoven. Composers the ensemble has covered from Bolivia include Adrián Patiño and José Salmón Ballivián. Four members of Música de Maestros will be at Colgate for a two-week residency where they will teach students enrolled in ALST 204: Performing Bolivian Music how to play Bolivian indigenous wind instruments (panpipes and flutes) as well as holding a performance at noon on Friday, November 1 in the Chapel.
