Meet Your Presidential Candidates

Elections will be held on April 4 and 5 on the Colgate University Portal.

Hallie Dietsch and Marisa Bricca

Colgate’s Student Government Association has an incredible amount of potential waiting to be harnessed, and Marisa and I want to do just that; through combined experience serving on SGA’s Executive Board and in Senate, we realize what we can accomplish and how we can bring about change. We realize that successful leaders are fearless in their ambition and determination, but also realistic in their goals. Marisa and I want to be Colgate’s Vice-President and President, respectively, for the sake of Colgate. We want to do our best to serve you, and to create and reach goals that will affect every student on this campus and leave a lasting impact. We want to listen to what you have to say, learn what you’re concerned about, and represent your best interests. We will represent you as your peers, but work for you as your leaders, to make your experience at Colgate an incredible one.

Colgate University is one of our nation’s finest institutions, and this is due, in no small part, to the legacy blazed by the students that have walked these hills over the span of nearly 200 years. Now it is our turn as students to establish lasting traditions. Now it is our turn to inspire future generations who will one day follow in our footsteps. It is our privilege and honor to faithfully lay the foundation upon which the history of Colgate University will be etched.

With this is mind, we are running for President and Vice-President of SGA to give a voice back to the students. No longer should the STUDENT government be a system of hierarchy, weakening our purpose, and that purpose is to unite the students, in order to address our issues and concerns with energy and enthusiasm. If elected, we will serve YOU. We will be a vessel through which your needs, hopes and dreams for a better Colgate are translated into actions. We will place the power back into the hands of the students, so that we can all have a say in the future of our University.

VOTE EILEEN AND MALIK. FOR SGA. FOR YOU.

Want to see some real changes around campus? Consider this: A satellite gym up the hill, changes in predictability and working hours for the Cruiser service on Monday nights, creating new sources of revenue for the Budget Allocations Committee, and providing free or discounted digital music to students; these are some of our ideas for improving life for all students. Drawing on our extensive leadership experience on the BAC, SGA Executive Board and Student Senate, we intend to lead Colgate’s student government with an open mind into a new era where the power to make change lies in the hands of the students. For more information on how we intend to achieve these goals, check us out online at robandjennyforcolgate.com.

Our experiences at Colgate have made us realize that we are in the unique position to give back to the community that has given so much to us. Through our work with First-Year Orientation, the Leadership Institute, Link Staff, BAC, the Disciplinary Board, our 5 semesters with SGA and involvement in Greek Life, our dedication to the Colgate Community is clear.

By supporting the initiatives of the student body, together we change Colgate for the better. The smallest things make the biggest difference: everything from being able to get cash from your Gate card, to guest meal plans for your friends, to free toilet paper for townhouses and apartments.

We may not have all the answers, but together we will find the best solutions. Colgate has been here for us for the last 188 years; together, let’s leave the best legacy we can. From Russia (and Massachusetts) with love!
