Planning Your Ultimate Spring Break Vacation Just Got Easier

Ok so there are four weeks until spring break, and you still don’t have a clue as to what you’re going to do. You and your friends have been talking about spring break for weeks, but you still have yet to book a hotel room or a flight. Maybe you don’t know where to begin or you don’t have the funds to go to Cancun or maybe you find you’re just way too indecisive to settle on a single beach location when they all sound like paradise compared to the 20 degree slush in Hamilton. But don’t worry, you have just enough time to plan the perfect week, and it really isn’t as hard as you may think. So here are a few tips for planning a fabulous and well-deserved break.1. Check out web sites such as STA Travel, Student Universe, and Expedia.com. They have great vacation packages that go just about everywhere you could imagine. 2. It’s usually cheaper to do a package than to book your hotel and flight separate. Most travel web sites will let you book both together. 3. All inclusive packages are great, but make sure you really will take advantage of the food and drinks they offer. Are you really going to get up before 10 to have breakfast? Do you really want a watered down margarita at 5 p.m. every night? Sometimes these deals aren’t really worth it once you read the fine print.4. Low on cash? How about planning a road trip with a bunch of your friends. Everyone needs to go on at least one road trip during college, and if you split up the gas money, you can do it relatively cheaply. You might drive to Panama City or Miami or even up to Vermont for a little skiing.5. If you don’t mind waiting until the last minute, you can often find super cheap fares on Smarterliving.com or at different airlines’ web sites. Usually airlines will put up seats for sale a week or a few days before the flight at extremely reasonable prices so they won’t be left oversold. 6. Cruises are always a great, no hassle way to spend your break. Food, entertainment, itineraries, tours, and drinks are all provided. You just have to show up and they’ll take care of the rest for you. Just make sure you don’t get sea-sick. I hear that Carnival cruise line usually has the youngest crowds if you are looking to party with other college students.7. Speaking of partying, if you want to have a real COLLEGE spring break, you’ll find tons of spring break packages for Acapulco, Cancun, and Miami among others. Basically if you like booze cruises, partying all night and drinking all day, these are the places for you. 8. If you want to try something a little bit different, you can always try a volunteer vacation. There are plenty of options you can find just by browsing the web or looking at Volunteervacations.org. Usually you just need to pay for your flight, and then you can spend a week (usually on some warm island) helping people in need. I’ve heard these are truly amazing experiences and a great way to broaden your cultural horizon.9. Visit your friends who are abroad. If you have friends studying abroad, you have a great way to visit some really cool places and pay next to nothing. As long as you can stay with your friend and don’t mind tight quarters, all you’ll need to do is cover the flight and some spending money. Flights to Europe are currently quite cheap.Hopefully, some of these options sounded good to you. All it takes is a little bit of time on the internet, and you can plan yourself an unforgettable vacation in just 20 minutes. Now all you have to worry about is getting in shape for the beach…
