Remembering The Great Hamilton Chocolate Wreck

To the Editor:

I’m an administrative assistant at Colgate in the ALST Program and was very interested in reading about the Chocolate Wreck back in 1955. I was a sophomore at Hamilton High School at that time and was sitting at my desk, writing to my boyfriend in the Navy. It was a rainy night. All of a sudden, I heard a loud crash. It was close by, because Pine Street is close to Lebanon Street, where the accident occurred. I didn’t go out to see what happened but my brothers, Eddie and Henry Brustad, both did. Not only did they bring home Nestle’s Crunch Bars, but about 18 bags of chocolate chips! We all had a sugar high that night and the day after. Thanks for the memories!
