Hamilton Meets Froyo

Yo Gate, a frozen yogurt store, will open in downtown Hamilton during the week of February 3. Yo Gate is located at 12 Lebanon Street, in the storefront between Retrospect and Oliveri’s Pizzeria.

The store will be self-serve, with fifteen frozen yogurt flavors, two ice cream flavors, one sorbet flavor and a toppings bar. Like most other frozen yogurt establishments, customers will pay by the ounce.

Owners Doug Rusch and Chris DeAngelis recognized the frozen yogurt business as available opportunity, especially since the nearest frozen yogurt store is located in New Hartford, about 25 miles away.

“We saw a need for Yo Gate since frozen yogurt is one of the fastest growing food services in the nation,” owner Doug Rusch said. “It is a great store front and is a business that appeals to all ages.”

Yo Gate will be open seven days a week, from noon to 10 p.m.

“As someone that lives downtown, I’m excited by the new option for frozen yogurt,” senior Ellie Smith said. “It’ll be a nice and different addition for the community.”
