Hurricane Sandy Shuts Down Campus

Campus closed down from 6 p.m. on Monday, October 29 through Tuesday, October 30 in fear of projected damaged from Hurricane Sandy, as reported by Will Hazzard.

An email sent through Campus Alerts on October 29 said, “the threat of road closures, downed power lines, power outages and other dangers due to potential high winds led Colgate officials to join surrounding universities in canceling classes.”

In a follow up email the next day, the campus was informed that “there were no reports of outages or property damage on campus overnight, as winds in the immediate vicinity did not reach projected speeds and rainfall amounts were less than originally predicted.”
