Killin’ It in the Kitchen: Homemade Bread for Every Occasion
October 25, 2012
Over this past weekend, we decided to experiment with making bread from scratch. One of us is a more experienced “breadstress” while the other is quite the novice, so we decided to ease in slowly. This recipe is great for every occasion and is incredibly easy to make. The prep time is minimal, and you can actually save a lot of money by baking your own bread instead of buying it at P-Chops.
Ingredients:
1/2 tbsp yeast
3 cups lukewarm water
3/4 tbsp salt
pinch of sugar
3 1/4 cup baking flour
3-4 tbsp flaxseed
1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
2. Mix lukewarm water, salt, yeast and
sugar in a medium sized bowl.
3. Stir while adding the flour and flaxseed
until you make a wet dough.
4. Set the dough in a warm spot with
minimal draft with a tea towel covering
the bowl for approximately one hour.
5. Knead dough and return it to the bowl
for roughly one more hour.
6. Knead once more before placing it on
an oiled cookie sheet.
7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until it
has a golden brown crust. Slice
and enjoy!
