Track Teams Wrap up Indoor Seasons
Though the season is over for most of the Colgate indoor track team, several individuals went on to compete in post-season invitationals in Boston. The men’s team raced at the IC4A Championships, and the women raced in the ECAC Championships on March 8.
After a seventh-place finish in the Patriot League, the men’s team ended its season on a high note, as sophomores Ed Boulat, Jon Knowlton, Dan Gleason and freshman Graham Tooker broke the school record in the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 10:00.20. The time was good for 13th place out of 33 schools. Freshman Timothy Metvier, competing as an individual in the 500-meter run, set a personal-best time of 1:04.96 and finished 26th overall.
The women’s Distance Medley Relay team consisting of posted a time of 12.27.99 to finish 16th. Senior Curry Knox, a previous recipient of the ECAC Track Athlete of the Week, ended the indoor season with a 14th-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles and a 22nd-place finish in the 60-meter dash. Sophomore Michele Miller finished 22nd in the 400-meter dash, and the 4×800 relay team took 24th with a time of 9:36:96. Both the men’s and women’s teams will now compete in the outdoor track season at the Disney Invitational during Spring Break.
