13 Beats of the Week – March 9
1. “Schoolin’ Life” by Beyoncé
A little motivation to get you through your week, this song always reminds me that life is not all about school. The motto “who needs a degree when you’re schoolin’ life?” can make you feel better about any exam grade, and give you that extra push that you need to get through midterms week.
2. “I’m Shipping Up To Boston” by Dropkick Murphys
Ever wanted to feel like you are in an epic car chase after having just successfully pulled off the most elaborate and satisfying heist? You’re welcome.
3. “Wicked Games” by The Weeknd
With all of the amazing new music The Weekend has been putting out, this is a great throwback to enjoy.
4. “Love in the 90z” by Mack Wilds
This song will make you yearn for a time when Slices didn’t count as a date.
5. “U Got It Bad” by Usher
You can’t ever go wrong with this song in my opinion. Perfect sing-a-long vibe for car rides. It’s also Usher, so what more could you ask for?
6. “Distraction” by Kehlani
Good for a shower playlist. Is that enough of a description?
7. “Barcelona” by Ed Sheeran
The entirety of Ed Sheeran’s new album is amazing in my opinion, but this is the chosen one that I just cannot get out of my head. It is also pretty much the only new song on this playlist.
8. “Happy Together” by The Turtles
For the four Colgate couples that exist, this is a cool song to blast and enjoy when feeling lovey-dovey.
9. “Dedication To My Ex (Miss That)” by Lloyd, André 3000 and Lil Wayne
This is a fun one for the majority of the Colgate student body enjoying the single life. Trust me.
10. “Hotel Room Service” by Pitbull
There is a time and a place for Pitbull. So when you find yourself there, give this absolute classic a try.
11. “Wherever You Will Go” by The Calling
This is that one super old song that comes on and you only know like three words of the chorus, but you still really like it. This single is this American band’s debut, released in 2001. It remains their most successful hit, peaking at number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
12. “Oh My God” by Jay Z
I learned all the words to this song because it was used in the “Gangster Squad” movie trailer. I have no regrets.
13. “Permission” by Ro James
Ending things on a slow note, this song is so great. It brings the voice and the vibes. The single, released in 2016, reached number 37 on US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
