COLGATE ORCHESTRA MEETING

Let your talents be heard and join the skilled orchestra. Conducted by Music Department Chair Marietta Cheng, this group means business. No instrument needed – just your beautiful self. Meet in 122 Dana Arts Center on Wednesday, August 26 at 12:20 p.m.

INDIE FILM: ThE PROPHET

Based on a book of poetry written by Lebanese author Kahlil Gibran, this film will surely have an impact on you. The animated version features the voice acting of big names, such as Salma Hayek and Liam Neeson. Join the journey of artist and poet Mustafa (Neeson) and housekeeper Almitra (Hayek) as they try to escape authorities threatening to silence Mustafa’s voice. The Hamilton Movie Theater will begin showing this film on Wednesday, August 26 at 5:30 p.m for an admission fee of $7.75. 

FIRST-YEAR CONVOCATION 

Get your torches ready! The first-years are here and all set to make their mark at Colgate as the Bicentennial Class. Convocation will take place on Wednesday, August 26 at 8:30 p.m. in  Memorial Chapel. It is a celebration of the 13 original founders and represents the transition into the Colgate community.

ROCK ‘N ROLL: COSMIC LIGHT SHOW

Rock out with your Colgate peers while enjoying the vibrant lights and sounds. Music from the ‘50s through the ‘90s will provide the perfect background to lie back and relax. Bring some friends for the full experience. The show will take place in the Ho Visualization Lab on Friday, August 28 at 7:15 p.m.

ALTERNATIVE CINEMA: VIDEO ART WAS BORN SUBVERSIVE

Challenge your preconceived notions of film and stop by Golden Auditorium in Little Hall on Tuesday, September 1 at 7 p.m. to immerse yourself in an eclectic film event. It will feature long clips, such as Chris Burden’s “The TV Commercials”, Martha Rosler’s “Semiotics of the Kitchen” and Basma Alsharif’s “Home Movies Gaza.”
