A new pop-up shop recently opened in the town of Hamilton, N.Y., called Bri’s Blings, where founder Brianne Tresohlavy sells handmade items and hosts crafting classes.
“It’s a family affair,” Tresohlavy said. “A majority of the stuff in [the store] is made by me or someone in my family.”
Tresohlavy hopes to buy a storefront in Hamilton. Until she finds one, the Hub is subletting the storefront to Tresohlavy for the holiday season. The Hub is a joint collaboration between Colgate University’s Thought Into Action (TIA) Entrepreneurial Program and the Partnership for Community Development, meant to help businesses access resources and grow through programming, mentorship and advising.
“My goal is to find a permanent location here in town to open a full-time gift shop,” Tresohlavy said. “Hamilton has treated me very well, so I want to stay.”
Tresohlavy likes that the town is connected to the Colgate community.
“I like to cater to the students, so I have wall tapestries, diamond painting, incense and crystals,” Tresohlavy said. “I also cater to male students with beard care kits, wallets, ties and men’s jewelry.”
Tresohlavy also sells custom work like wreaths, lanterns and custom jewelry upon request. She hopes that students will come check out the store during the holiday season, especially for her Black Friday sale.
Senior Jacqueline Kong is excited for a new store in Hamilton.
“I think it’s great that new businesses are expanding in Hamilton,” Kong said. “I’m excited to check out the new jewelry store.”
Sophomore Daytona Doherty noticed Bri’s Blings’ window displays when she was in town.
“I thought the store was super cute — it was full of awesome jewelry and fun accessories,” Doherty said. “I love to accessorize, so next time I’m in town, I’ll be sure to pop in.”
Bri’s Blings is located at 8 Lebanon St. and will be open until Dec. 31
