Work crews will begin an excavation next week to repair a leak in on-campus condensate lines, according to an email sent to the Colgate University community on Friday, Feb. 2. The condensate lines are used to send out the steam that heats campus.
The email, sent by Director of Facilities Operations Jason Wallace, mentioned that part of the sidewalk between Olin Hall and Wynn Hall will be closed due to the excavation.
“Because the condensate lines are located deep underground, it is expected that the excavation may take several weeks,” Wallace wrote.
Wallace noted that the work is not expected to impact the construction timeline of Olin Hall and asked students to use caution around the area impacted. Additionally, the landscaping removed for the excavation will be replaced after the project is completed.
