Men’s Ice Hockey Falls to St. Lawrence, Ends Season
The Colgate men’s ice hockey team has finished their season, with two losses in the best-of-three first round of the ECAC hockey tournament against the St. Lawrence University Saints. The Raiders also finished their regular season with two losses – against the Yale University Bulldogs 3-4 and the Brown University Bears 1-5.
On March 1 at 7 p.m. at Yale, the game finished regular time tied 3-3. The three Colgate goals were all scored during the third period. The first was scored at 1:05 by senior Robbie Bourdon and assisted by sophomore Joe Wilson and senior captain Thomas Larkin. The second was scored only seconds later at 1:16 by senior captain Nathan Sinz and assisted by first-years Kyle Baun and Tyson Spink. The final Colgate goal was scored at 8:59 during a power play by Baun and assisted by senior captain Jeremy Price and first-year Tyson Spink. During overtime, Yale scored in the final seconds at 4:57 to win the game.
The next night, March 2 at 7 p.m. at Brown, the Raiders’ only goal occurred in the first period at 19:05, during a power play, scored by Price and assisted by Tyson Spink. Brown made one goal during the first period and a pair of goals during both the second and third periods, allowing them to end the game with a definitive win.
Colgate battled the Saints on March 8 at St. Lawrence. The Saints scored three goals during the first period, and a fourth during the second. Colgate retaliated during the third period with two power play goals, at 0:55 and 3:16, respectively. The first was scored by Baun and assisted by sophomore Spiro Goulakos and first-year Tylor Spink. The second was made by Tylor Spink, and assisted by Goulakos and Tyson Spink. The Raiders had another chance against St. Lawrence the next night, March 9, but were unable to defeat the Saints. St. Lawrence scored two during the first period, and the second saw no scoring by either team. The Saints began the third period with a goal, and the Raiders were able to answer with their only goal of the game. It was scored at 13:01 by senior Kurtis Bartliff and assisted by sophomore John Lidgett and first-year Darcy Murphy. Within the next minute, St. Lawrence scored again, advancing the Saints instead of the Raiders to the next round. These games
concluded Colgate’s 2012-13 season.
