The Student Government Association’s (SGA) State of the Association Address occurred at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26 in Golden Auditorium.

First-year Class President Mark Pronchick announced this weekend’s Colgate vs. Army Lacrosse tailgate that will be followed by an awareness event for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Week.

President of the Sophomore Class Council Hugo Torres-Fetsco followed.

“We’ve been doing a lot more collaborative stuff and it’s been effective and efficient,” Torres-Fetsco said. He also described the success that the council has had with its work on the SophoMORE Connections Program.

The President of the Junior Class Council Dylan Guss and Vice President junior Raman Malik revealed that they were very happy with the success of the Class Affairs Committee (CAC).

President of the Senior Class Council Matt Levitsky revealed that class unity has improved as a result of the creation of the CAC.

“Our duty is to ensure the experience of fellow classmates is the best it can be,” Levitsky said.

President of SGA Matt Ford concluded the address, citing “stellar progress” across all areas. He recounted many of the council’s accomplishments, notably the addition of the flags to Frank Dining Hall that symbolize the diversity of the study body. He also cited junior Sam Flood’s rewriting of the Council Constitution to reflect gender diversity, junior Danielle Scheer’s creation of the free food calendar and Dean Kim Taylor’s expansion of the medical amnesty program as other great successes.

Ford also mentioned that the number of senators in the SGA has been reduced to 40 from 48 members for next semester. Future plans of the Council include the creation of a pamphlet concerning the relationship between students and Campus Safety and organizing the next Parker Commons Party, to be held on Friday, March 29.
