Mysterious Assault Puts Campus on Edge, Police Continue Investigation
On Monday, November 12, Campus Safety issued an alert about an alleged assault on uni-versity property in a campus-wide email.
Details were murky, but Campus Safety disclosed that on Saturday, November 10, a group of four people assaulted what appeared to be a fifth in the Parker Apartment complex parking lot.
“A witness reported that four unknown males appeared to be kicking something or someone on the ground near a red car. The four males then placed what appeared to be a person in the backseat or trunk of the car. The four then got into the car and left the area,” Campus Safety said in the email.
Campus Safety is working with Hamilton Police to try and iden-tify the culprits, and students are encouraged to contact either or-ganization with any information about the alleged assault. While law enforcement investigates, Campus Safety urged students to be careful.
“Members of the campus com-munity are reminded to exercise caution and common sense, includ-ing traveling with others during nighttime hours,” Campus Safety said in the email.
Campus Safety waited to alert students in order to con-firm several facts about the in-cident, according to Director of Campus Safety William Fergu-son. Ferguson declined to com-ment on the progress of the in-vestigation, on the grounds that the investigation was ongoing.
