In The Light: Samantha Meyers
For senior Samantha Myers, a religion major from Bedford, New Hampshire, involvement in many diverse activities on campus is nothing new. For example, she has been on the Link staff for the past three years.
“I love it,” she said. “It’s one of my favorite groups on campus.”
Myers is also an intern at the Office of Admission. This job entails correspondence with prospective students, answering their questions and hopefully alleviating some of their fears regarding the college process.
“I actually have to handwrite a letter to a prospective student who doesn’t have much Internet access,” Myers said. “It’s pretty cool to get to communicate with people like that.”
Senior year has brought Myers a new avenue for involvement: Konosioni.
“In Konosioni, you’re with people who are leaders in all different ways across campus,” Myers said. “It gives you the opportunity to be involved with people whom you may never have worked with before.”
In addition, Myers is a memeber of Gamma Phi Beta sorority, which is something she greatly enjoys, even though she never imagined herself as part of a sisterhood prior to her sophomore year. She is also a captain of the club soccer team, which she’s been on since her first year and is a member of the Alpine Ski Team.
During the spring of her junior year, Myers studied abroad at St. Andrews University in Scotland with the philosophy and religion department.
“I would definitely recommend studying abroad,” Myers said. “I’d go back in a heartbeat.”
A highlight for her, too, was when Prince William and Kate Middleton visited St. Andrew’s, their alma mater, prior to their wedding.
In general, Myers simply enjoys talking to people.
“I love connecting with people and giving them advice,” Myers said. “That’s probably why I enjoy being a part of so many different things on campus.”
In addition, Myers has found that she loves musicals. After attending the past two Cabaret performances on campus, she has found herself unconsciously singing along to musical theater songs.
