Navy Invitational Unkind to ‘Gate Golf
The Colgate golf team struggled this past weekend at the Navy Spring Invitational, placing 17th out of 21 teams in the field. To compound its woes, Colgate was bested by Patriot League foes Navy, Bucknell, Lafayette
and Lehigh.
Sophomore Josh Spellman led the Raiders on the weekend with a 157, posting a 76-81 outing, which was good for 47th place. Fellow sophomore Ben Jessen followed him in 62nd place, junior Neil Thompson and first-year Will Delano tied for 77th place, and senior David Ake placed eight strokes behind them.
Navy won the invitational after posting a +2 score of 286 on the first day, and did enough to hold off Bucknell with a 306 on the second.
In addition, Navy’s Ben Hayes won the individual title, finishing at even-par 142.
The Raiders return to the links next weekend at Seven Oaks, when they host the Patriot League Tournament.
