After a month-long hiatus from intramural action, a quick recap of the intramural basketball season to this point is in order.

The darlings of the first-half of the intramural season have been the undefeated boys from League A, Delta Upsilon (DU) A. The fraternity stood at 3-0 entering this week’s competition after an exciting win over the 2-1 Brothers A squad prior to break. A young Phi Kappa Tau team enters this semester at 1-1, a half-game ahead of both Just Four Fit (1-2) and Beta Theta Pi (1-2), for third place in the league. League A’s last place team is Theta Chi, which stands at 1-3 with one game left in its regular season.

The League B race is the one to watch in the second half of the basketball season. Thursday night saw two of the top teams in the league square off, as the LNA Pound R’s and Phi Delta Theta met in a match-up of 3-1 teams. Both teams entered the week tied for first in the league with the Great Colgate Ballers.

Despite the success of these three League B teams, the team to watch over the coming weeks may be DU B. The late entry is composed of many senior football players, who will bring experience and an inside presence to a league that is lacking a little of each as the schedule enters late January.

If the intramural darling of the first half of the season was DU A, then the intramural surprise is atop the League C standings. $11.49, led by a strong backcourt presence, has been dropping dimes all over the Huntington Gymnasium court to this point in the season, running up a 3-0 record entering this week’s competition.

Despite the dominance of the first-year-laden $11.49 team, three teams stand behind it with only one loss. Jewce is Loose (2-1), Old School (1-1) and the Blazers (1-1) all have experience over the League C leaders and are one $11.49 letdown away from grabbing first-place in the league.

The most anticipated game at the end of the intramural basketball season may very well be the match up of the undefeated squads in League D. Both Jason and Cobra Chi B started the season 2-0, meaning that their game scheduled for next week will be played for both the league title and a possible high seed in the Division II Basketball Tournament.

Due to the small number of entries, the Women’s League will be entering its second round-robin session of the regular season. Club Basketball leads the league at 2-0; yet both defending champion Women’s Soccer (1-1) and Women’s Lacrosse (0-2) have the athleticism and experience to make up for early season losses to the league leader.
