DU Leading the Pack in IM Basketball

After a week off for Thanksgiving break, the intramural basketball season re-started this week with a few closely-contested games.

On Tuesday, Delta Upsilon (DU) A continued its undefeated regular season in League A by knocking off a then-undefeated Brothers team, 57-54, in overtime to move to 3-0.The Brothers currently stand in second place in the league at 2-1.

After a win the week before break over Cobra Chi A, Phi Kappa Tau (Phi Tau) is in a third-place tie in League A with Just Four Fit at 1-1.Just For Fit’s game against Cobra Chi A on Tuesday was rescheduled due to a leak in the Huntington Gym roof.

The rest of the league is rounded out by both Beta Theta Pi (Beta) and Theta Chi at 1-2, after a 40-28 Beta victory over Theta Chi on Tuesday, and Cobra Chi A at 0-2.

League B saw no intramural action until Thursday night, allowing Phi Delta Theta (Phi Delt) and the LNA Pound R’s to remain atop the league standings at 2-0 apiece coming into this weekend.The LNA Pound R’s tied Phi Delt at the top of League B after a victory over the Division II Soccer Champion Donkey Ranch prior to break.

The Great Colgate Ballers notched their first victory of the season before break over Brother 2 Brother, moving last year’s Division II Basketball Champion into a third-place tie with the Hard Hats at 1-1 in League B.Winless teams DU B, Donkey Ranch and Brother 2 Brother round out the League B standings.

League C’s only game this week prior to Thursday saw the Dave Reiners knock off a pesky Old School squad, 68-64, in the late-night slot on Tuesday.The result of this game moved both teams into a five-way tie for second-place in League B at 1-1 behind a 2-0 $11.49 team.

The Dave Reiners and Old School are joined in second place by Townhausers 2B or not 2B, the Jewce is Loose and the Blazers.The idle Diabeatings entered the weekend as the only winless team in League C at 0-2.

League D has seen few surprises to this point in the season, as the preseason favorite in the league, Jason, stands alone in first place at 2-0 after a 37-20 victory over the Spartans earlier this week.The loss dropped the Spartans into fourth place in the league at 0-1.

Link 148, which notched its first win of the season over Cobra Chi B two weeks ago, sits in second place in League D at 1-0.Cobra Chi B knocked off the Yo Mets, 41-36, on Tuesday night to move to 1-1 on the season, while the Yo Mets sit in last place in League D at 0-2.

After the first week of games for the Women’s League, Women’s Soccer joined Club Basketball at the top of the league at 1-0 after a strong victory over Just Forfeit prior to Thanksgiving.Women’s Lax joins Just Forfeit in last place after the first week of action at 0-1.

Next week will see the last intramural basketball action of 2005.
