A Flurry of Philanthropy: Students Feast for Hamilton Community

On Saturday, December 3, the Junior Class Council will host their first annual Holiday Charity Feast. The event will be co-sponsored by the Freshman Class Council and Panhellenic Association and will be held at the Parker Commons from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Joe & Vinny’s, an Italian restaurant that will be opening in town soon, will be catering the Feast. The menu consists of chicken parmesan, eggplant parmesan, spaghetti and meatballs, baked ziti, antipasto salad, chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks. Attendees are welcome to eat as much as they like. Entertainment for the evening will feature a performance by the Colgate 13.

Tickets were sold for $10 at the Coop this week and can be purchased at the door.

“When you think about it, $10 is not that much considering that you could easily spend much more going out on a Saturday night,” Junior Class Council member Becky Lynch said. “For $10, you can get a delicious Italian meal, be serenaded by the Colgate 13, and help support a good cause.”

All of the proceeds from the event will be donated to local charities. They will benefit a local leukemia patient and the Food Cupboard, which provides food to community members in need.

“Local businesses have also been helping to collect donations to help with the medical expenses of this patient,” Junior Class Council Member Alex Hernandez. “We noticed that a lot of the other banquets are funding international causes so we wanted to focus on local charities and help equally worthy causes within our community.”
