To The Editor:

I hope that the column “Minus the City” by Elisa Benson (February 4, 2005) is written tongue-in-cheek, but my husband and I did not find it amusing. It implies that random hookups are the norm and that promiscuous sex is also the norm at Colgate. Maybe it is not possible to write a column with an amusing slant about responsible, emotionally committed, monogamous sex, but surely this point of view deserves a spot once in a while in your newspaper. This kind of relationship is probably the actual norm at Colgate. For Valentine’s Day, how about some stories about happy couples who met at Colgate?
