The Breast Cancer Awareness Club will be hosting its third annual Breast Cancer Awareness Banquet in the Hall of Presidents this Saturday. First-year Sara Raddin is organizing this year’s banquet, which will incorporate a Valentine’s Day theme and require semi-formal attire. Tickets will be sold at the door if the event is not sold out. Until then, tickets will be sold at tables at the O’Connor Campus Center (Coop) and Frank Dining Hall until this afternoon. BCAC members went around to dorm rooms earlier this week selling tickets, which are $6 per person and $10 per couple. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and is projected to end around 9:30 p.m. Raffle tickets will be sold upon arrival. The top three raffle prizes are Yankee’s tickets, a basketball signed by the Syracuse University basketball team and a meal at the Colgate Inn. Other prizes include gift certificates to Maxwell’s, the Barge and the Colgate Bookstore. The opening band will be Dangerboy, featuring several Colgate professors. Other performers include the Blue Parsely Boys, the Ballet Club and the Swinging Gates. During the buffet dinner, a short film will be shown and several speakers will share stories about how breast cancer has affected their lives. All proceeds from the event will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. This Foundation works to abolish breast cancer as a life threatening disease by raising money for breast cancer research and breast cancer education throughout the world.
