Track Teams Host Class of ’32 Invitational

Behind Moore for Colgate was Ellis with a jump of 6.45m, which earned him third place.In the one-mile run, sophomore Mike Hanlon set a personal record with a time of 4.16.68, winning the event. Coming in fourth for the Raiders in the mile was junior Sean Curran with a time of 4.29.82.The Raiders had a dominating performance in the 400m event, sweeping first, second and third place. The Raiders were lead by Ukponmwan, who finished first with a time of 50.61, followed by Holway in second with a time of 50.88 and sophomore Don Boyajian, who finished third in 51.08. The Class of ’32 Invitational was the Raiders’ only home meet this season and their first victory of the year. Tomorrow, the men will compete at Boston University as the team continues to prepare for the Patriot League Championships next weekend. At the Class of ’32 Invitational, the women were led by junior Lisa Germain, who finished in the top four in three events. Germain’s top performance came in the long jump, which she won with a leap of 5.37m. Germain finished second in the triple jump, jumping 10.68m, and also finished fourth in the 55m dash with a time of 7.58 seconds. The Raiders’ distance team once again looked strong, winning three events despite having one of their best runners, sophomore Hannah Failing, sidelined with injury. The Raiders had the top three finishers in the 800m run, with sophomore Nicole Christoforo winning the event in 2:17.98. Christoforo was followed by first-year Abby Chapman, who ran the 800m in 2:19.67, which was two seconds ahead of the third place finisher, junior Sarah Hildebrand. The Raiders also dominated the 3,000m run, with three runners in the top five. First-year Kathryn Marvel led the way with a time of 10:18.42, winning the event handily by 35 seconds. Sophomore Meaghan McAnaney placed third in a time of 11:12.97 and classmate Rachel Pettengill finished in fifth place with a time of 11:20.71. First-year Elisa Payne picked up 10 more points for the Raiders when she won the mile in a time of 5:22.56, while sophomore Macrina Seals finished fifth in the event with a time of 5:40.04.Colgate distance continued their dominance in the relays, winning the 4x800m in a time of 10:02.18 and the distance medley relay with a time of 13:00.99.The Class of ’32 Invitational was the first victory of the season for the women’s team. The Raider women will be back on the team tomorrow at the St. Valentine’s Day Invitational, held at Boston University.
