What’s Left: The End of Trump’s Regime

After days of national uncertainty, former Vice President Joseph R. Biden has been projected to be the next President of the United States on Nov. 7, 2020. Across cities throughout the nation, Americans celebrated Joe Biden’s victory with impromptu marches, dances and audible sighs of relief. As of Nov. 8, Joe Biden won by the popular vote with 75 million votes and 279 electoral college votes. If Biden wins all the states where he is leading President Trump today, he will receive a total of 306 electoral college votes. This country decisively chose to reject the authoritarian tendencies of President Trump. Multiple world leaders have already recognized President-elect Joe Biden as the rightful victor of the 2020 election. Even key Republicans, such as Senator Mitt Romney, Governor Jeb Bush and former President George W. Bush, have congratulated President-elect Biden.

Unsurprisingly, President Trump has not conceded and will likely never concede the race. President Trump has once again revealed his character and his inability to reason with facts. He will never win the presidential election, even if the courts intervene in his favor. Joe Biden leads President Trump in far too many states and by far too many votes for the courts to decisively intervene as they did in the presidential election of 2000. Furthermore, unlike Twitter and Fox News, legal courts require the presentation of facts and substantial evidence to convince an impartial judge of “electoral fraud.” According to Joe Biden’s lead counsel, Bob Bauer, President Trump has lost every single case he has brought forth because most judges do not entertain conspiracy theories and inadmissible hearsay at best. This is quite ridiculous, but also a sign of how pathetic Trump’s legal team is. Then again, how shocked can we be if one of Trump’s key lawyers is Rudy Giuliani? By the way, if Democrats “rigged” the election, don’t you think we would have rigged it to win the Senate too? As Joe Biden would say … Come on man! We can expect to see a deluge of lawsuits come forth in the next few days, but rest easy knowing that there is little to no chance that they will impact the results of the election. President Trump will have to be dragged out of the White House on Jan. 20, 2021 whether he wants it or not. I do not believe the Secret Service takes too kindly to intruders on White House grounds.

President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris declared victory last night in a speech that reminded America what leadership is supposed to sound like. Joe Biden called for unity in his speech last night and to end the demonization of our opponents for political gain. Kamala Harris recognized how meaningful it is for her to be the first female Vice President in the history of the United States. Watching their speech last night felt surreal; there will be no more hateful rhetoric, no more lying, no more authoritarian tendencies or idiotic tweets come January 20, 2021. This country will mend the wounds inflicted upon it by the disgraceful presidency of Donald Trump. For all the people who organized, volunteered or donated to Biden’s campaign, this victory was for all of us. This victory was for every person who has been victimized over the last four years, for every person of color who has been afraid for their life, for every mother or father raising their children in a country full of hatred and Xenophobia. America redeemed itself in this election before it collapsed into fully-fledged authoritarianism and white supremacy endorsed by the President of the United States. We must never let a man as dangerous as President Trump win the highest office in the land again. He is an aberration in the history of this nation; we cannot allow for candidates like him to become the norm. We must keep fighting for democracy for the rest of our lives; we must not become complacent, nor ignorant to the divisions that still lie within this country. It is time to heal this country and build back better. NO MALARKEY 2020.
