Family Weekend: Saturday Night Recap

This Saturday night from 8 to 9 p.m. in Brehmer Theater, Masque & Triangle presented its annual One Night Stand, an exciting opportunity for students to get involved in acting and directing. Scenes were divided among students who had three hours to learn their lines and stage directions. Though far from perfect, the event’s impossibility created a hilarious and entertaining show for parents and other members of the Colgate community. Also starting at 8 p.m., Glenn Cashman and Friends performed a talented and whimsical jazz show to a packed audience at the Barge Canal. Cashman’s improvisational approach to saxophone comes from his bi-costal travels, which take him from Hamilton, NY to Southern California each year. The vibrant downtown scene continued with renowned comedian, Josh Sneed, an improv show by Colgate’s Charred Goosebeak and an event sponsored by Paul J. Schupf ’58, which featured Gregory Koerner ’88 and Gent Treadly. Ending with a band on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the Colgate Memorial Chapel, the Colgate Chamber Players performed “Autumn Leaves.” Director Laura Klugherz and Guest Resident Ursula Baur performed music of Telemann, D’Rivera, Gershwin, Beethoven and Martinu to a packed house.
