Dancefest 2013: Turn Up the Music

One of Colgate’s most entertaining traditions, Dancefest, will take place in the Colgate Memorial Chapel this Friday, April 26. The biannual performance, hosted by Groove Dance Troupe, features a number of other dance groups, including Shock, Kuumba, bellydancing, Colgate Ballet Company, Carribean Students Association (CSA), Fuse, Colgate Dance Team, ballroom, African Student Union (ASU), K.P.O.P., S.L.A.M., South Asian Cultural Club (SACC) and some individual performances, among others. Seniors Haley Mirr and Jason Taylor, both members of the improv group Charred Goosebeak, will emcee for the night. This semester’s Dancefest theme is “Turn Up the Music” and is sure to be a hit, as always.

“My favorite part of Dancefest is the energy in the Chapel. This is the one night all the dancers get to show off what we work so hard for all semester, so seeing so many people in the crowd really pumps us up,” Fuse member junior Jill Goltzer said. “If you want to see Colgate spirit, come to Dancefest!”

Admission is free, although donations are highly suggested; all proceeds will go to The Hamilton Center for the Arts. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the show will begin at 6:30 p.m.. The Chapel will fill up fast, and since there are no tickets, attendees should arrive early to grab a seat for one of the largest showcases of Colgate talent that the semester has to offer.
