On Friday, April 8, Colgate’s senior honor society, Konosioni, held its annual charity auction benefiting philanthropic projects in Hamilton and the greater Madison County area. The theme for the evening was Monte Carlo, and the event was held at the Palace Theater and decorated by the local boutique, Swank. Highlights from the auction collection included a one-week stay in a Paris apartment; dinner for six with President Herbst; a one-week stay at a five star resort in Uganda; a one-week stay at a condominium in Stowe, Vermont; and Yankees, Mets, Knicks, Rangers and Red Sox season tickets. The total proceeds from the auction set a new Konosioni record, raising over $22,000 and eclipsing last year’s total of $15,000. The money raised will be allocated to local charities by the Konosioni Class of 2012. Senior and President of Konosioni Kyra Kaufman said of the auction, “It feels great to have been this successful knowing that all the proceeds will go towards providing essential services for people in need.”
