Minus the City: The Perils of Porn

I’ve been writing this column for a while now, and I’ve never once talked about porn. That’s a pretty relevant sexual issue. I mean, porn never really gets old, at least in the sense that it’s been around for a while.

We’re also the generation that really got to grow up with the Internet, and I was among those many fledging teenage boys who discovered the infinite amounts of nudity. Seriously, have you ever really thought about how much porn is on the Internet? If you can think of it, if you have some weird secret fetish that you thought only you had, there’s definitely porn for it. Though, like anything else that is awesome and fun, it can have some side effects.

Now, I would say that I dabble in porn. It’s one of those things that surprisingly never really piqued my interest like you might think. I think it’s because when I was 12, my parents found some porn on my computer, and told me that I shouldn’t look at porn on the Internet.

While what I had was pretty innocent, they told me there I was going to come across some women having sex with animals at some point. I have yet to find this site of which they spoke, but the general message kind of never left my mind. I kind of just do it when I’m really lonely or angry or something.

My biggest fear is really that I’m going to see someone I know one time and be like, “Hey, I went to high school with that girl.” It has to have happened to someone and I don’t know how I’d feel about it. There are lots of people out there who are really into porn though, or maybe just their own sexual fantasies.

Anyway, that’s ultimately why people like porn. They can live out their wildest dreams on the Internet, which causes some problems. When does real ever become satisfactory anymore?

I know guys who have entire hard drives devoted to their porn collections and, if you ask me, that’s excessive.

There comes a point where your desire to watch sexual acts overcomes your desire to actively do them with another human being, and that is so not cool.

I know a lot of you out there think I’m crazy by claiming this, but it’s way more true than anyone wants to admit. Just look how it affects women.

You can tell when a girl used to date a guy who was really into porn, because when they have sex, they imitate porn stars.

They didn’t get enough attention because their significant others were more into the screen than them, so the girls had to do something to get the guy’s attention. If you do it for long enough though, it isn’t just something that goes away.

You know how freaky it is to hook up with a girl who is screaming all kinds of crazy stuff at you? Not as great as you may think.

It’s one thing to want someone who’s a little kinky, but sometimes it just goes too far. I’m not trying to bash porn or anything. Like I said, I dabble. People need to learn some self-control though.
