The Patriot League — the collegiate athletics conference of which Colgate University is a member — announced President Brian W. Casey as the new chairperson of the league’s Council of Presidents in a press release published on Sept. 12.
“He will be joined on the executive committee by American University President Sylvia Mathews Burwell and Lafayette College President Nicole Hurd, Ph.D,” the release read.
The release also named new chairs for the Committee on Athletic Administration, Sports Management Committee and the League’s Policy Committee.
These updates came alongside the contract extension of Jennifer Heppel as league commissioner, a position she will remain in until 2028. In her time so far, Heppel negotiated a streaming deal with ESPN+ and prioritized student-athlete involvement in governance.
