A Warm Welcome Back

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning Initiatives (LGBTQ) kicked-off the year with a mixer on Tuesday evening. All Colgate students, faculty and staff were invited to participate.

The night’s festivities included ice breaker questions, an introduction to the program and numerous desserts, including the Barge’s Rainbow Cake. There were several people in attendance, including some Hamilton residents.

“The mixer is meant to kick-off the semester, meet new people and reunite with old friends,” Assistant Director of LGBTQ and Center for Leadership and Student Invovlement (CLSI) Jamie Bergeron said.

LGBTQ was not the only group at the mixer. Representatives from Lambda, Advocates and Africana, Latin American, Asian American and Native American (ALANA) Cultural Center were also present to invite students to become a part of their organizations. The atmosphere was very relaxed and allowed it to be very enjoyable.

“It was a lot of fun and I got to meet a whole lot of people,” first-year Cynthia Kumar said.
