13 Beats of the Week – May 4

1. “I don’t know my name” by Grace VanderWaal

You might have seen her on America’s Got Talent but now she’s on Spotify with her album, Perfectly Imperfect. This song and all of the others are definitely worth a listen.

2. “Lens” by Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean really outdid himself with this chill tune. Make sure to keep an eye out for those people who may be watching you.

3. “Young and Menace” by Fall Out Boy

This song has a great beat and seems like a new stage for the classic Fall Out Boy. We’ll see if they’re new music keeps up the trend, but for now this song is pretty good.

4. “Location” by Khalid

This song has rapidly gained popularity and it’s obvious why. Khalid’s music is great for hanging out or driving or pretty much doing anything to.

5. “Late Night” by ODESZA

The beat of “Late Night” is really something. This song has a focus on electronic beats and can really hype you up if you need it.

6. “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons

These beats are as loud as thunder and as bright as lightning. Imagine Dragons will really shock you with this new song.

7. “SHC” by Foster the People

If you listened to any of Foster the People’s previous album “Supermodel,” this song has a similar style but brings back a unique experience thanks to some new lyrics and some exploration of unique sounds.

8. “J-Boy” by Phoenix

If at this point you’re thinking, “Wow this is just a selection of the new releases section on spotify” then you would be correct, but don’t let that discount “J-Boy” because it’s a great work by Phoenix.

9. “Pleasure” by Feist

This song is reminiscent of the classic feist beat with some electric guitar plucking and some great lyrics to go with it.

10. “First Time” by  Kygo, Ellie Goulding

This holy matrimony of music brings together two of the coolest artists of our time. “First Time” is guaranteed to be a hit, so hop on the boat before it gets too popular and people will think you’re getting it from the radio.

11. “I’m the One” by DJ Khaled, Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, Lil Wayne

Voted cutest album cover by me, this song is also a hit! The artists on this album really make a power team.

12. “Misery Business” by Paramore

It was definitely my intention to brag about this song. This song is just so good! Though it’s been over eight long years since this song came out it’s still just as fun to listen to!

13. “Passionfruit” by Drake

“Wait, Maroon-News, you always put Drake on 13 Beats…” Of course we do. Listen, he’s got some serious talent and the beat in this song is radical.
